Nearly 30 foreign students from the Operation and Management Training Class of the Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Developing Countries visited Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture for investigation and study from April 22 to 26.
The training class is organized by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The trainees come from Nigeria, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Mauritius, and Serbia.
They conducted investigation at the ancient vine tea planting protection base of Maoba Township and the high-quality rice production base of Kesha Township in Yongshun County, understood the construction situation of Changping Village and Meixiang Village in Gaoping Township, and experienced the picking of Yongshun vine tea.
At the Yongshun Kiwi Experimental Station and Yongshun National Modern Agriculture Industrial Park, they exchanged ideas with local staff on such topics as kiwi planting management technology and the modernization of the fruit industry in the Wuling Mountain area.
“Yongshun vine tea, different from our dark tea, has a very unique taste,” said a student from Tanzania.
In addition, they visited the Shibadong Village Targeted Poverty Alleviation Theme Exhibition Hall, Shibadong Agricultural Characteristic Industry Demonstration Park, etc., listened to the poverty alleviation stories of Shibadong Village, and learned about the practices of rural tourism development, tea base construction, agricultural brand creation, and e-commerce platform operation in Huayuan County.
Seeing the tremendous changes in Shibadong Village, a student from Lebanon said, “Shibadong villagers have worked together to promote infrastructure construction as well as economic development, and achieved remarkable results.”
“This event has given me a deeper understanding of Chinese agricultural culture and modern agricultural new technologies. We need to bring back the valuable experience and technologies to promote the development of our own agriculture,” said a student from Serbia.
